12. Move (on)

Story by R.A.S.:   I was at a conference where an incredibly famous professor was giving a keynote lecture and I had decided to talk to him as our interests converged on a couple of topics. Unfortunately, before we could dive into a discussion, he got sharked of by the organizing committee into a lengthy meeting. However, he had still remembered me and afterwards came to me with the remark that he had to leave, but would be happy to mail. He also remarked that he didn't quite know how to get to the train station and the airport. As the station was within walking distance and I knew how to get there, I immediately offered to accompany him there. During the walk I remarked to him I would like to work in his group, which turned the whole thing into an interview where we discovered many other converging research interests. After that, every year I got an email from him asking about my progress and when I would come to work there, which I accepted upon finishing my PhD.
