17. Reward

Story by M.M.:   A key to success is collaboration and working together within a research group. Our group meets weekly to discuss how to approach a revise and resubmit, get up and move on after a rejected article or grant, rework a grant application or approach a particular analysis. This feeling of ‘being in it together’ has fostered not only a collegial atmosphere, but increased the quality and productivity in our group. Some of our favourite meetings have become the spontaneous ‘cake meetings’, which take place when we celebrate that someone in the group has an article accepted for publication or is awarded funding.
